Am I the only one whose internet addiction started with my parents not letting me fucking go anywhere

This but I also had no friends so I wouldn’t have anywhere to go if I was allowed

this is a thing! danah boyd is a researcher who has been studying social media for over a decade and in her 2014 book it’s complicated she argues that teenage social media “addiction” (which she also contends is like…..not actually a thing) is a result of the fact that “today’s teenagers have less freedom to wander than any previous generation” because “parents argue that these restrictions are necessary in an increasingly dangerous society, even though the data suggest that contemporary youth face fewer dangers than they did twenty years ago.”

as a result, teenagers are reclaiming these lost social spaces (which their parents and grandparents had in the form of mall hangouts, drive-in theaters, after school parking lots, etc) by using social media, where they can continue to “engage in crucial aspects of maturation: self-presentation, managing social relationships, and developing an understanding of the world around them,” aka stuff that teens are Supposed to be doing

K here’s the argument sketches I talked about.  I really only know/think some other shit went down with Lin and Toph cos while Lin reconciles w/ Su she NEVER stops being cold as ice when it comes to any mention of her mom so, just playing with the idea that they ended up fighting badly and having severe difference of ideals, so much worse of a situation than Su’s relationship with either of them. Plus Toph prob skirting as much as she can around her issues with not even being able to handle the thought of restricting her kids in any way (I guess that’s what I always thought of by her “this is our only option” bit, but I guess that could be something else entirely) by turning things around on Lin.

I think maybe they would both see the situation as betrayal, Lin would see Toph being dishonest and unfair, which she is, lowering herself and therefore her family in doing so; Toph would see Lin picking a job and a subjective set of rules over the well-being of her sister, which she is, an idea Toph would probably be disgusted by.

so my version is all problems come from the beifongs loving each other too much for any of them to be comfortable with and Lin playing a fucking lawful good paladin and being too pure for this earth lmfao

At least she has a nice boyfriend though, right?

Guys. There going to be a bisexual dating show on TV.

Big Brother UK winner, Drag Race star and LGBT+ advocate Shane Jenek a.k.a Courtney Act will be presenting a ten-part reality dating series called The Bi Life which will feature exclusively bisexual and pansexual participants. It will be broadcasted on E! UK and Ireland and starts on the 29th October.

A show like this has never been done before in the UK, and I’m literally so excited to see something like this on mainstream television.

Shane said of the show: “In 2018 we know that sexuality is fluid and sharing the stories and experiences, the laughter and the love making, of young bi people is so important. So get ready to see the true stories of bisexual singles, who are the largest part of the LGBTQ+ community, but the least known.“

BISEXUAL FINGERGUNS FOR EVERYONE!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!
